"They are like a big family, eat together, help each other." This is how Zoe describes the team spirit among the workers in production. Most of the bags from LES VISIONNAIRES are made in Canton China, a traditional, vibrant city.

THE TEAM: WOMEN AT THE TOP

Zoe is a permanent member of the sourcing team and is responsible for quality management. She checks samples and materials from the tanneries and has them delivered to production after they have been approved. In addition to Zoe, Jessie, Lisa, Donna, Zita and Kay are also in the leading positions for LES VISIONNAIRES, only Kay sometimes has to assert herself against concentrated female power.

THE PRODUCTION: CREATIVITY, CRAFTMANSHIP, MUSIC

A large, light-flooded room with many windows, rows of bags on hooks and on tables, the smell of leather, the hum of sewing machines and music in the background.

At a large table, a team checks the quality of each individual finished product. In the other area, a colleague cuts a large piece of leather by hand, while his colleague inserts rivets and other metal details. Concentration, precision and expertise are required here, the sight of this skill is almost hypnotizing. From sketching to tying the final bow, everything is done by hand.

LONG LIVE THE LEATHER: AS LITTLE WASTE AS POSSIBLE

"The feel is one of the most important characteristics," says Jessie, picking up a piece of calf suede from the table and stroking it with her fingertips. "Depending on the product, it must either feel particularly delicate and soft or firm and robust." Longevity is part of the concept at LES VISIONNAIRES. This is another reason why the design interprets trends in such a way that they remain timeless and modern.

If a model breaks down, the repair service offers its help. Only when a product can no longer be saved does the upcycling concept take effect - LES VISIONNAIRES aims to reuse all components in new designs.

APPRECIATION FOR PEOPLE AND PLANET

In addition to the quality standard, further measures are part of the sustainability strategy: Compensating for the CO2 footprint or reducing waste. Offcuts or leftovers that occur during production and are no longer enough for bags can be used again for key rings.

The factory building itself is subject to strict fire safety requirements. Annual audits check the safety of the employees. They work 40-hour weeks and compensate for overtime. Chemicals are out of the question, paints and glues are water-based.

The leather and raw materials come from selected tanneries in New Zealand, Brazil, Italy, China, Tibet, the USA and Mongolia. All are members of the Leather Working Group for Transparency in the Leather Industry.
